Shawn, 26, was born in Vegreville and has lived here for the majority of his life. He grew up playing hockey, soccer, baseball, and even was involved in Ukrainian dancing for some time. Shortly after graduating from high school, Shawn joined the Vegreville Fire Department in May of 2001. While working a number of jobs, he split his time between work, firefighting, and graduating from the University of Alberta with degrees in Science and Education.
 
Now a math and science teacher, Shawn has grown to recognize the impact and importance of being a volunteer in the community and what it means to be a Vegreville Fire Fighter. "We have an unbelievable department. From the gear and trucks, to the impressive hall and the fellow members, it is an honor to be a part of such a great group of people."
