Job Description – Public Relations Officer  

I. Scope: 

This standard shall apply to the Public Relations Officer of the Vegreville Fire Department.

II. Position Summary:

Fire Department spokesman for the media.

III. Duties and Responsibilities 

The Public Relations Manager shall:

A.   Report to the Fire Chief.

B.    Co-ordinate, develop and carry out a written Public Relations program that includes the use of various types of media relations (newspaper, radio, etc.).  This program shall include the decimation of information and the implementation of programs to make the citizens aware of these activities, education and promotions conducted by the department.

C.   Will use sound judgment and discretion when responding to inquiries regarding classified and confidential information.

IV. Qualifications

·        Appointed by the Fire Chief.
