This standard shall apply to any member with the rank of Captain on the Vegreville Fire Department.

II. Position Summary:

Fire Department Operations Team Leader.

III. Duties and Responsibilities:

The Captain shall:

A.   Report to the Deputy Chief.

B.    Be responsible for training within his or all crews.

C.   Be responsible for equipment maintenance and cleanliness.

D.   Be responsible for apparatus monitoring and cleanliness.

E.    Be responsible for cleanliness of the facility.

F.    Fulfill all requirements as described in a Lieutenant’s job description.

G.   Work as a member of a team to prepare pre-emergency plans, policies and procedures.

H.   Participate in fire prevention and inspections.

I.       Demonstrate a working knowledge of OH&S safety standards and practices with the ability and desire to implement them.

J.      Exemplify conduct and appearance at all times.

K.   Will use sound judgment and discretion when responding to inquiries regarding classified and confidential information.

L.    Must be willing to assume the position of Deputy Chief in his absence as directed by the Fire Chief.

M.  Direct fire ground operations in the absence of the Deputy Chief or Fire Chief.

N.   Be a respected member of an effective working team, dedicated to maintaining and improving the department’s image within the community.

O.   Perform other related duties.
