Job Description – Training Officer
I. Scope:
This standard shall apply to the Training Officer of the Vegreville Fire Department.
II. Position Summary:
Conduct training exercises for the Vegreville Fire Department
III. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Training Officer shall:
A. Report to the Fire Chief.
B. Develop, conduct, coordinate and manage fire training programs.
C. Supervise and work with the members assigned to assist in the delivery of the training program.
D. Set a good example for his subordinates and ensure all employees meet all required standards of conduct and performance.
E. Schedule training programs and manage the use and maintenance of the department’s training apparatus, vehicles and fixed facilities.
F. Assist in maintaining a permanent training file for each member in the department and prepare the required reports.
G. Possess the minimum certification required by the department.
H. Attend training programs and seminars, read periodicals and journals to stay knowledgeable of current industry trends and practices.
I. Perform other such duties as assigned.
IV. Qualifications:
· Appointed by the Fire Chief.
