Job Description – Dispatcher
I. Scope:
This standard shall apply to any member assigned to the position of Dispatcher during an emergency incident through the Vegreville Fire Department.
II. Position Summary:
Support position during an emergency response.
III. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Dispatcher shall:
A. Report to the commanding officer of an emergency incident scene.
B. Initiate written chronological records during incidents.
C. Be proficient in radio and telephone communication techniques.
D. Contact any additional resources, if required (police, ambulance, utilities, etc.).
E. Dispatch additional personnel and apparatus as required.
F. Maintain and submit dispatch reports, and refer all pertinent information to the appropriate personnel on scene.
G. Ensure all important radio and telephone communications and events are properly recorded.
H. Perform other such duties as assigned.
IV. Qualifications:
Appointed by a qualified member of the department.
